Garrion People’s Housing Co-operative Limited was set up in 1991 following a transfer of stock from North Lanarkshire Council.
The Co-operative own and manage 252 rented homes consisting of 155 flats, and 69 new build houses/ flats all general needs in Gowkthrapple and 28 sheltered housing units in the Overtown area of Wishaw.

Garrion Peoples Housing Co-operative is registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, a Registered Scottish Charity No SCO4596 and also a property factor in Scotland No PF000178.
It is also a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) registered with the Scottish Housing Regulator No 226 and in accordance with the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001.
The Co-operative have operated a unique staff sharing arrangement for 27 years with Forgewood Housing Co-operative.
Both Co-operatives are independent in their own right and enjoy an excellent reputation as social housing providers in their areas of operation.
This arrangement has proven to be very successful for the operations of the Co-operatives and also to subsidise costs for both organisations.
